POST-PRODUCTION BOOT CAMP 101:
EVERYTHING YOU EVER WANTED TO KNOW ABOUT THE DIGITAL DARKROOM BUT WERE AFRAID TO ASK.
We’ve all been there. In this workshop for beginners, we take you, step-by-step, through the whole process of digital post-production…if you even know what that means…from capture (taking the picture), to downloading (getting it off the camera into your computer), to editing (how to pick and choose the best images to work on), to workflow (how to edit and get everything organized to work efficiently).
We take you to the Photoshop tool box, familiarizing you with all the basic Photoshop tools that we use in our method of post-production. Then the best part: we will go through every NIK™ Software filter in Define, Viveza, Color Efex Pro and Silver Efex Pro… and show you what each filter can do to enhance or transform your image. The possibilities are endless… but we will be sure not to overwhelm you with unnecessary information … just the very BASIC tools and techniques you will need to take your images from the ordinary to the sublime!!
“Stupid” questions are allowed in this workshop. In fact, we start from the premise that you may not know anything about post-production except some frivolous dabbling in Photoshop or NIK™ Filters. So take advantage of this rare opportunity where the only requirement is to show up with a laptop and Photoshop and Nik filters downloaded on your computer. How easy is that?
The Schedule:
Day 1… Meet & Greet over wine and cheese in our cozy, “Out of Santa Fe” studio. Slideshow, videos, and overview of the week ahead.
Day 2… First photoshoot. Location to be determined.
Afternoon in studio learning workflow process, from downloading and editing to choosing your best images to work on for the week.
Day 3…Second photoshoot. Location to be determined.
Afternoon in studio, demonstrations of how an image can be enhanced using NIK™ filters and simple steps in Photoshop.
Day 4… All day in the studio in digital post-production, with individualized attention and “hand’s on” learning methods. Light lunch will be provided.

WAVES OF CREATIVE BLISS: “WOMEN ONLY” SPA AND WORKSHOP RETREAT.

A rare chance for like-minded women to get together and recharge their creative batteries in a supportive, relaxing and totally blissful surroundings of a world famous spa and retreat located in the charming town of Santa Fe, New Mexico, full of restaurants, shopping and artistic inspiration… And later, we retreat to our “Out of Santa Fe” studio, located in a garden-like setting, away from the rush of the world on Old Santa Fe Trail… for a post-production intensive to motivate us “to reach the stars” in our photographic work!

The Schedule:
Day 1…Meet and Greet over Wine & Cheese and a”Grazing Dinner” at our beautiful “Out of Santa ” outdoor pavilion. Music, a slide show presentation and videos, plus a review of the exciting week ahead will end our first evening together!
Day 2 … Relax, rejuvenate, and reinvent your photographic vision at the famous Santa Fe spa and retreat, TEN THOUSAND WAVES…with a full-day of self-indulgence, including a”Master’s Massage, Hot Salt Rub Treatment, Yasuragi Head and Neck Treatment, a 55 minute facial and private bath! By the time we are done with this day, we will be relaxed to take on any challenges that await us for the rest of the week!
Day 3… We are out photographing today at the spiritual and healing location of Tent Rocks, a national monument just outside of Santa Fe on the Cochiti Indian Reservation. Wear some hiking shoes for a invigorating trek through rock formations that will provide some unique and beautiful photographic opportunities. After lunch, we will return to the studio, for some downloading, editing and tips on workshop processes. Dinner at Vinagrette, our favorite organic restaurant, where we will composite and create our own unique salad culinary combinations!
Day 4…Early morning horse shoot, on-location, at the beautiful Laestancia Ranch in Espanola, where we will photograph the wonderful Peruvian passo horses, known for their lively, natural, 4-beat, lateral gait. Lunch at Tesuque Marketplace. Return to the studio for more downloading, editing, and demonstrations on the transformation process from capture to redefined. Wine & Cheese and camaraderie in the evening.
Day 5.. Full day of post-production in our studio. Light, healthy, organic lunch will be provided. Wine & Cheese to end our day of creativity, with an outdoor barbecue dinner in our outdoor pavilion.

STARS & STRIPES IN BLACK & WHITE: FOCUS ON SILVER EFEX PRO 2
Come celebrate the holidays in colorful Santa Fe.. with a kickoff 4th of July barbecue at our “Out of Santa Fe ” studio!
This workshop will focus on creating contemporary or classic black & white photographs from your color images. We will take you through the steps to create drama, depth, focal point and dramatic interest in your images, using the extraordinary filter, Silver Efex Pro 2. We have been constantly amazed at the possibilities of black and white imagery using the various presets and applications of this filter.. there is a lot more to this filter than meets the eye, and we will go through each and every adjustment available to transform your color images into stunning works of fine art. We will also tell you where you can… and will… submit your images for black and white photo competitions!

FUSION II: Merging & Compositing Bootcamp
The above image was created by Bobbie from our Zapata Ranch Workshop, merging two images using merging & compositing techniques, and this will be the focus of a 4 day intensive bootcamp in August, where participants will learn easy steps to combining two or three photographs to create one, compelling image!

FILTER MANIA: DISTORT, SHEAR, AND STYLIZE your images , creating contemporary, innovative and unique works of fine art photography!
Turn your classic (but sometimes boring) images into strong, attention-getting images for today’s marketplace. Working in all filters, from Photoshop to NIK, we will specialize in those filters that make your images “pop”… from “lens correction” to “shear”, “distort” to “artistic filters”, “blurs” to “liquify”, we will create some really interesting stuff that stirs the imagination. We will work in black and white, and color and also show you what each Nik filter can do to evoke the style and look you want!
We will also do some merging and compositing, combining two images to give a “wow” and “how’d you do that?” factor to your images. This will be a fun and “cutting edge” workshop and we will reveal a lot of secrets that will blow your creative imagination!
